2007 has been a landmark year for Jill Barber. Back in February she took home two East Coast Music Awards for Best Female Solo Artist and Album of the Year for her latest release, For All Time. In the last year, her hectic touring schedule has brought her music to audiences in every Canadian province (and one territory- The Dawson City Music Festival in the Yukon), and to esteemed festivals such as Stanfest, The Winnipeg Folk Fest, Mariposa, SXSW in Austin, TX, The Greenman Festival in Wales, the Innocent Village Fete in London, UK and the Strawberry Festival in Yosemite National Park, CA. Other performance highlights include an 8-date tour of the UK, an Atlantic Canadian theatre tour with Ron Sexsmith, the In the Dead of Winter US Tour with dates in NYC, Boston and Philadelphia, and showcases in LA at the Western Arts Alliance, On the Verge in Boston, Contact East in Liverpool, NS and CAPACOA in Ottawa. She was recently honoured at the Music Nova Scotia Awards, being named Best Female Solo Artist and has received a nomination at The 2007 Canadian Folk Music Awards for Best Contemporary Folk Singer. In January 2008, Jill will be the Artist-in-Residence at the Banff Centre for the Arts, where she will spend three weeks working on material for her forthcoming album. We are very pleased to announce that Jill Barber has been nominated in five categories at this year's Nova Scotia Music Awards for Folk recording, Female Artist, SOCAN Songwriter, Album and Entertainer of the Year. The awards will be handed out on November 11th at the Astor Theatre in Liverpool, NS. Jill has also received a Canadian Folk Music Award nomination for Best Singer-Contemporary. The awards gala takes place on December 1st at the Canadian Museum of Civilization in Gatineau, Quebec.

Summer Update July 23rd, 2007

Jill is currently on her way back from playing the Dawson Music City Festival in the Yukon. It's been a busy July that has had Jill playing the Winnipeg Folk Festival, Mariposa as well as taping a concert for the CBC show East Coast Sessions. Jill will be headlining the Harmony Bazaar Festival in Lockeport, NS as well as playing dates in Victoria by the Sea, St. Margarets Bay and Quispamis before heading over to the UK. Her UK tour will include stops at the prestigious festivals Green Man and Summer Sundae where she will be sharing the stage with the likes of Robert Plant, Echo and The Bunnymen, Spiritualized, Joanna Newsom and more. Jill will also be playing select club dates, check the tour page for more details. Toronto based artist Heather Goodchild has created a beautiful limited edition tour poster that will be available at shows and is available now online in the MapleMusic store. Only 500 of these have been made. For those of you who have seen Jill perform over the past year, there's a good chance you've heard her rendition of the Hank Williams classic "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry". Jill recently did a CBC Radio 3 session and we're streaming her version of the classic album on Jill's MySpace page.

Jill Receives Four ECMA Nominations January 1st, 2007

Jill is honoured to have received nominations for four East Coast Music Awards in the categories of FACTOR Album of the Year, SOCAN Songwriter of the Year, Best Female Solo Recording of the Year and Folk Recording of the Year for her latest record, For All Time. The awards ceremony will be held in Halifax on February 18th, 2007, and broadcast live across the country on CBC Television.
